The perfect summer vacation destination, Broken Bow Lake provides over 180 miles of picturesque shoreline and long-range views of the Kiamichi Mountains. It’s a great setting to enjoy a number of boating, water sports, swimming, fishing and more activities as well as other outdoor adventures.




For those interested in exploring Broken Bow Lake, there are two public boat ramps which offer access for power boats, sailboats, and smaller boats (kayaks and canoes are also allowed). If you’re bringing your own boat, you might want to consider Carsons Creek Area Boat Ramp. If you’re looking to rent a boat, Beavers Bend Marina has a wide variety of vessels ready to rent including house boats and jetskis.


TOP 7 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT Broken Bow Lake:


  1. The water at Broken Bow Lake is so pure and clean, swimmers can see their toes while treading water.

  2. Broken Bow Lake is surrounded by, and in, the sprawling Kiamichi Mountains––meaning that this lake is naturally DEEP (185’).

  3. The record Largemouth Bass was caught in Broken Bow Lake (14.7lb).

  4. Due to wind patterns and the north to south orientation of the lake, you can properly set sail in a sail boat without making a trip to the ocean.

  5. Broken Bow Lake was formed, and is still fed by Mountain Fork River, but the lake was developed and filled in 1970.

  6. There are 180 miles of shoreline filled with 100’ pine trees.

  7. The area was named after Broken Bow, Nebraska, home of the Choctaw Lumber Company barons that initially helped develop the area, Herman and Fred Dierks.



Surrounding Broken Bow Lake are a number of hiking trails that feature waterfalls, tall trees, rock formations, and animal life. The Friends Trail is becoming a new favorite in the area, but remains uncrowded. The nearby Beavers Bend State Park is 3,482-acres of scenic hiking trails and nature adventure just waiting to be explored.


Neighbored by the charming towns of Broken Bow and Hochatown, there’s plenty to do when you visit Broken Bow Lake. There are many dining, drinking, and shopping options (not to mention the outdoor adventures and family fun destinations).
